3 DAYS TRIP TO KIBALE
Kibale Forest National Park is one of Africa’s best tropical rainforests and the leading destination for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda. The park is home to 13 primate species, including chimpanzees, red colobus, black-and-white colobus, red-tailed monkeys, and blue monkeys. It also supports over 370 bird species, forest elephants, bush pigs, butterflies, and rich vegetation. The surrounding area is famous for scenic crater lakes, tea plantations, rolling hills, and welcoming local communities, makingKibale a perfect destination for nature lovers and primate enthusiasts.
Day 1: transfer to Kibale national park.
In the morning after breakfast, our professional tour guide will pick up the clients from the hotel or Entebbe International Airport and begin the journey to Kibale Forest National Park, an approximately 8 to 9-hour scenic drive. Along the way, we pass through Mityana, Mubende, Kyenjojo, and Fort Portal districts. During the journey,
you will enjoy beautiful views of tea plantations, sugarcane fields, forests, rivers, roadside markets, villages, and rolling hills. You may also spot birds, monkeys near forested areas, and cattle grazing along the road. A stopover will be made for lunch at a selected restaurant. After lunch, we continue the drive to Kibale. Upon arrival, we shall have a briefing about the Kibale forest camp and the surrounding area, followed by relaxation as we wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp nature walk. After early morning breakfast, we pack enough drinking water and drive to the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) offices for a briefing about chimpanzees, trekking rules, and forest conservation. The chimpanzee trekking starts at around 8:00 am for the morning slot and takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, depending on the movement of the chimpanzees. During the trek, you will see chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, forest birds, butterflies, and tall tropical trees. After the trek, clients receive certificates and drive back to the hotel for lunch and relaxation. By 3:00 pm, we drive to the Bigodi Swamp for a guided naturewalk, where you will spot various bird species including the Great Blue Turaco, monkeys, reptiles, insects, and wetland vegetation. After the walk, we return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: crater lakes visit and transfer back to Kampala/airport. In the morning after breakfast, we visit the beautiful crater lakes region around Fort Portal. During this visit, you will enjoy scenic views of volcanic crater lakes, tea estates, hills, villages, and the Rwenzori Mountains in the distance. You may also spot birds and monkeys around the lakes. After the visit, we begin the drive back to Kampala or Entebbe Airport, enjoying the countryside scenery along the way, with possible stopovers for lunch and photography.
