A DAY TRIP AROUND KAMPALA CITY

Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, is built on seven historic hills and is the country’s political, cultural, and commercial center. The city blends modern life withdeep traditional roots, offering visitors a unique experience of royal heritage, religious diversity, colonial history, and daily urban life. Kampala is home to major religious landmarks, traditional kingdoms, lively markets, and scenic hilltop views overlookingLake Victoria and the surrounding city landscape. 

In the morning, you will be picked up from your place of residence by our professional tour guide, who will introduce you to the city as you begin the drive through Kampala. As you move through the city, you will see busy streets, local markets, government buildings, boda-boda riders, and daily life of the people, givingyou a real feel of Uganda’s capital. 

Our first stop is GADDAFI NATIONAL MOSQUE, located on Old Kampala Hill. This one-hour guided visit introduces you to the history of Islam in Uganda, its arrival, growth, and cultural influence. You will see the mosque’s impressive architecture, prayer halls, and minarets. Visitors may climb the minaret, offering panoramic views of Kampala city, with clear sights of surrounding hills, markets, and urban neighborhoods. 

After the mosque, we proceed to the KABAKA OF BUGANDA’S PALACE(Lubiri Palace). This visit takes about three hours and gives deep insight into the Buganda Kingdom, Uganda’s largest and most influential traditional kingdom. Youwill learn about the Kabakas (kings), royal traditions, leadership systems, and cultural practices. You will also visit the Idi Amin torture chambers, which tell an important story about Uganda’s political history. The palace grounds offer open spaces, traditional architecture, and historical monuments. 

We then continue to RUBAGA CATHEDRAL, one of Uganda’s oldest and most important Catholic churches, located on Rubaga Hill. Here, you will learn about the introduction of Christianity and Catholicism in Uganda, missionary work, andthechurch’s role in education and social development. The cathedral’s hilltop locationprovides beautiful scenic views of Kampala city, with calm surroundings and impressive architectural design. 

After the visit, we make a stopover for lunch at a restaurant of your choice, where you can enjoy local or international cuisine while relaxing. 

Following lunch, we head to the KASUBI TOMBS, a UNESCO World Heritage Siteand the burial grounds of the Buganda kings. During this visit, you will learn about the royal burial traditions, Buganda culture, clan systems, and spiritual beliefs. Youwill see traditional grass-thatched architecture, sacred sites, royal drums, and artifacts that represent the history of the Buganda Kingdom. 

Our final destination of the day is the UGANDA MARTYRS SHRINE INNAMUGONGO. At this important religious site, you will learn about the UgandaMartyrs, who were killed for their Christian faith in the late 19th century. You will see the modern basilica, old execution site, statues, and peaceful gardens. The area

offers a calm and spiritual atmosphere, with scenic views and strong historical meaning for both Catholics and Anglicans. 

At the end of the tour, you will be driven back to your place of residence,
