4 DAYS TO KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

Kidepo Valley National Park is one of Africa’s most remote and unspoiled wilderness areas, located in the far north-eastern corner of Uganda. Surrounded by rugged mountains, vast savannah plains, and seasonal rivers, the park offers breathtaking landscapes and exceptional wildlife viewing. It is home to rare and unique species such as cheetahs, ostriches, and the famous Kidepo rock lions, making it one of Uganda’s most scenic and rewarding safari destinations.

Day one: travelling from kampala/airport to Kidepo After breakfast, you will be picked up by our professional guide to begin the long but rewarding journey of approximately 11 hours to Kidepo Valley National Park. The drive passes through Wakiso, Luweero, Nakasongola, Gulu, Kitgum, and Kabong. Along the way, you will enjoy changing landscapes ranging from lush countryside and farmlands to open savannah and semi-arid plains. We shall make a stopover for coffee in Nakasongola or at Kabalega Diners, and later have lunch in Gulu town. The journey also offers views of roadside markets, traditional villages, and local life in northern Uganda. Upon arrival in Kidepo, we drive straight to Savannah Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, with beautiful views of the surrounding wilderness.

Day two: full day game drive

After an early morning breakfast, we drive into the park for a game drive in search of abundant wildlife. Expect to see elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, leopards, ostriches, and the famous Kidepo rock lions, among many other species. At around 10:00 am, return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. At 3:00 pm, head out for an afternoon game drive to increase your chances of spotting more animals as they become active. By 6:30 pm, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day three: Game drive and community visit

After early morning breakfast, we head back into the park for another game drive, focusing on different wildlife species and a variety of birds found in the open plains and river valleys. At around 10:00 am, return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. By 3:00 pm, visit a local Karamoja community to interact with the Karamojong people and learn about their culture, traditional lifestyle, dress code, and way of life. This cultural experience offers meaningful insight into one of Uganda’s most unique communities. After the visit, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day four: Travelling back to Kampala/Airport

After breakfast, begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe Airport. Along the way, you will enjoy views of Karuma Falls, roadside markets, and rural villages. Passing through Nakasongola, part of Uganda’s cattle corridor, you will see large herds of beef and dairy cattle grazing across the open plains, offering a scenic end to your safari.
